While some critics have dismissed this film as a sort of Irish Braveheart, and there are similarities in the revenge genre, I was quite impressed by it and very pleased that what was one of the most important periods, and certainly the most tragic, in Irish history has finally, unflinching (if belatedly) been brought to the big screen. I'm not surprised that the film was huge in Ireland. It is an affirmation of a story that must be told.
