Too many flaws to this movie than virtues. So many pregnant pauses, which slowed down the tempo of an otherwise witty story. The mishmosh score, which never matched the period, location nor theme distracted from the story rather than enhanced. I don't mind a new interpretation of a classic, "Clueless" in my opinion, is one of the best "Emma" stories put on screen. This movie lacks a clear voice and point of view. While the sets, costumes, and scenery are lush, they did nothing to enhance nor drive the plot. And can someone please explain the "handmaids tale" red capes the random girls were wearing? There are actually some stellar performances here, and though the casting may not be true to the book, that is at a directors/producers discretion. Overall, I was disappointed and bored and was left wanting rather than satisfied.
