Before Norwegian Wood, I had only read two books (Sapiens and Freakonomics) โ both non-fiction. Until last Thursday, fiction wasnโt really my thing. Over the past year, I had seen a lot of Instagram stories and heard people around me talk about Murakami, so I decided to give it a try.
I wasnโt looking to read a story โ I never was โ but while ordering my WFH setup on Amazon, the idea popped into my mind: to make the desk aesthetic, why not buy a book? After all, I wanted to read something nice, and the only writer that came to mind was Murakami.
There were 2โ3 bestsellers under his name, but I went to ChatGPT and searched, โbest Murakami book for a beginner.โ It replied Norwegian Wood. I added the book to my cart, and two days later, it arrived.
Honestly, that was the only effort I put into buying it. It stayed in my drawer for about a week. Then one night, around 11 p.m., I picked it up and told myself, โLetโs start this.โ
I finished it in three days.
In fact, I completed it just two hours ago.
Iโm a little sad now โ actually, very sad.
I just need to spill my mind somewhere.
I donโt want to talk about whether the book was good or bad.
All I can say is: I canโt think about anything else right now.
