Funny reading some of the comparisons of Elementary with the Sherlock. Both have killed the spirit of Sherlock Holmes but Sherlock particularly is completely frivolous! Yes Benedict is a great actor and the show is very stylish but that' all it is. It lacks substance big time. To me even Elementary kills the spirit of Doyle' Sherlock Holmes. Adapt but retain the spirit of the character, understand what he was capable of and why. I love Elementary if I separate myself from the fact that it is an adaptation. Likewise I enjoy Sherlock as a stylish with no substance detective work.
