I've read a few of the reviews here, and I have been a reader of Tolkien for decades. I thought Peter Jackson's movies were excellent, though I also feel that one really must read the books. I've read them many times. As far as this series is concerned, I've only so far watched E1, and like a few others, I'm a little disappointed that the main characters, especially Elrond and Galadriel, stray so far in their looks from Hugo Weaving and Cate Blanchett, but really, I think that's a minor point. I am willing to give this series a good look-over, and allow for poetic licence in the interpretations of physical appearance. I'm more interested in how well this interpretation maintains the verity of Tolkien's larger themes. After all, therein lies the literary art.
