Had a family outing with my husband and two teens. It was a great time out. Being a NZ born Samoan couple, we were blessed with growing up in the rich cultural tapestry that we were part of. Our teens are Aussie born Samoa, although they have different experiences, they still pride themselves in being Samoan. But this story went beyond my expectations. It's a story of love, devastating heart break, depression, overcoming adversities, recognising your personal struggles, finding and accepting oneself again. The actor's in this film - including the background actor's did an absolutely wonderful job in bringing this story to life. Seeing my daughter weep and my son mili lima, it really felt like a film that spoke across the generations.
I would recommend this film to anyone & everyone. If you can't afford to go to the movies, than wait for the movie to come out on streaming, but don't look for those sneaky downloads. Save those actions for the big Hollywood films 🤣 jk. But I hope you get the chance to see the film at the movies for a great time out & to support the film.
Oh, I think if I had any critique, it would be subs - they weren't there throughout the film where needed. We were okay, we didn't need them, but to help those who aren't Samoa speakers, this will no doubt help them. Especially during the singing & a few other scenes 😀
