Foundation saga is a masterpiece because it presents the reader ideas and create thoughts that they may ponder about for the rest of their lives. Characters may seem to lack depth and development, but you have to understand that in the books, we are seeing only instances of their lives at critical moments. After watching the first five episodes, it feels like the creators of the show have completely missed (or neglected) the essence of the books in their search for generally accepted standard of good TV.
Characters have been reduced to mere action figures rather than the thoughtful and intelligent ones we have come across in the books. This maybe good TV, but you are not left with that awe and profound feeling you get when you finish reading the books. It is just empty action from characters that have only namesake resemblance to the original.
