What I love most about this binge worthy series is how the plot focuses on two women’s opposite trajectories of their careers and how they meet on the head of a pin and force each other to grow. As a 20 something freelance photographer I encountered professional women who took what they could from me, taught me the ways of the world while robbing me blind. So, this show’s entire premise resonated for me. The HBO series makes the point in the most entertaining of banters. Its a cautionary tale that unfolds in episode after episode of Hacks, where a world weary internationally renowned comic hires and entwines herself with a Gen Z writer scrapping her way to a living in the trenches of the entertainment industry of Los Angeles. The dialogue is witty and so current you’ll want to have closed captioning on to not miss a word. Jean Smart as Deborah Vance is a classic character eliciting love and loathing in every scene. She is brilliant and as dimensional as the prisms in a crystal . Hannah Einbinder, who plays her young writer Ava Daniels is addictive to watch and listen to as she grows from an awkward scrapper Into an accomplished professional. She is the Emmy award winning daughter of original SNL cast member Laraine Newman. At 29 she somehow represents everywoman who ever struck out on her own. What a pair these two powerhouses are to witness. I give the series a 10 out of 10.

I just came home from the movie theater after having an incredible experience watching this film. The technology is awe inspiring, the acting and tempo perfection. Most films I see are viewed at home but this one you want to be in the theater and just loose yourself in the excitement. I did just that, and must admit I covered my eyes and gripped my hubby’s arm several times. What a ride! It’s a fantastic script and the film swept me up and had me on the edge of my seat for 2+ hours. I love seeing badass women in action. Very satisfied in every way. Harrison Ford crushed it along with the entire cast. So with it.

An engaging and haunting film that I thought was going to be about immigrants from Sudan. But it turned out to be a love story and a ghost story about the women of Sudan and the agency they have over their own lives in the face of having very little. Subtle and gripping in measure, a quiet masterpiece.

This film is a piece of art. It’s from a woman’s point of view, staring women, directed by a woman Anne Fontaine starring Naomi Watts and Robin Wright. To the famous film critics calling it trash, I’m confused by this review. I know what trash is. This film is not that. It’s beautiful in a visual and story telling way. I was gripped by this film until the very last minute. I’m glad I found this exquisite piece of art and allowed myself to get lost in it. One man’s trash is another woman’s masterpiece. Go figure.

This series has captivated me. I am learning about the history of modern dance, broadway and musicals while getting lost in the story. This is an important and historical story that needed to be told on screen; I am hooked! The performances are amazing and the way the story is woven is engrossing. When it’s finished, I will be reading the book by Sam Wasson

Gripping and dynamic movie. On the one hand, it shows the mundane, day to day life of a single mother in Iceland trying to making it work, to keep her young son. On the other, it shows the life and death reality of a Guinea-Bissauan woman seeking asylum. As we go deeper, the woman to woman connection becomes the theme. I could not look away. My kind of cinema.
