The movie overall is bad. The cinemaphotography and score are very good, but Asa Butterfield's performance as Hugo is just plain bad and the overall story is boring and doesn't capture the attention of the audience However, Ben Kingsley and Sasha Baron Cohen steal the show as George Melies and the Station Inspector respectively. The inspector has some of the best lines in the film and Melies' backstory and personal plight are fascinating.
