Best aspect of the movie was August’s healing from his PTSD and growing out of his shell. Soundtrack was nice, acting was sincere and the scenes were pretty damn immersive and emotional at times. However the pacing and editing was awful (multiple random skips that made it seem quite amateur) and some of the writing was lazy. I wanted to like this movie but I often found myself predicting the next events even from the very first minute of the film. Beats really could have been something, and was at few points, but the rushed ending really left me feeling like I wasted two hours of my life. Building up for 2 hours all to end with a jump cut to weeks later in a pro studio with an engineer with zero context or explanation on how they managed to do it. Unbelievable. The only fix is a sequel but a good movie would not leave you so deadpan and disappointed. Overall I have more complaints than compliments for this movie and I really wanted to like it as I am a producer and hip hop fan myself. 6/10
