Louisa May Alcott is rolling in her grave at this butchery of her beautiful story. I found this adaptation awful and completely untrue to the actual story. This movie chops up the flow of the storyline so badly, you are unable to really appreciate the women they grow into, or any of the other characters, either. Even an excellent cast could not salvage this hack job. And the ending? Read the book. Watch ANY other version. This sad and hollow adaptation destroys the soul of this story, and those who love it.
I rarely come away from a film this angry and disgusted, but please, PLEASE, do not let Greta Gerwig destroy any other classics for a new generation. If you want a feminist manifesto, write your own. Don't co-opt someone else's book and change it to fit your agenda.
