From a fan who hoped that Ash's character would mature a bit or be more knowledgeable than his costar, this was a disappointment. It is definitely kid friendly but just doesn't quite the spot. This is so much material from past series but this completely lacks any of the material. The thing that gets my goat about Ash's character is that all prior knowledge of pokemon is erased. His character is a novice all over again.
