So disappointed in the missed opportunity this novel presents. I'm reading it for a book club, and I am shocked that the issue of HIV is never addressed. How can you have a novel about the gay community, lots of gay sex while completely omitting any conversation or thought of HIV? Other than a historical reference to aids in the very beginning of the book, it omits HIV, safe sex, prep, stigma, it's never ever addressed. It was a chance to normalize these issues, even make them funny, instead of acting like HIV is an old forgotten myth. And it won a prize? Please, it should get some kind of anti-prize. So disappointed…
