This show captured me as soon as I started watching it. The acting is remarkable, especially how Suranne Jones portrays Anne Lister. She fully embodies what I imagine she would be like and every episode is fantastically done. As a gay woman, seeing other women like myself portrayed so honestly is something very rare and so appreciated. It’s hard for people to understand the difficulties and fear LGBT+ people face in every day life. Of course it has improved massively since Anne Lister’s time but many things remain the same, and seeing that portrayed so publicly is amazing. I think seeing this show, people will better understand what it can be like to be LGBT+ in this world. I highly recommend this to everyone!
