It was amazing how equally unbalanced every event in the plot was. Normally in bad movies too much time is spent explaining one element in a story, but this one managed to evenly not develop any aspects. There was no coherence, the entire movie seemed like a montage sequence. No character development. All characters seemed archetypal. It seemed the audience was meant to assume everything about the characters roles and personal traits. I don't mean by having previously read the book or whatever. I mean there was no deviation from well established patterns. I know it's a children's movie but where's the fantasy? It was just "okay there's fairies right. They live underground. Only Artemis I knows. Artemis II learns if their existence and then he traps a fairy who has a dad or something, but yeah that's her purpose for being involved. Nek minnut whole army arrives activating Artemis II face down trap card. There is the worst attempt at a mutiny chucked in there too from a fairy cousin? Wait they 4 sometimes 5 characters are unlikely heros. Where did that weather checker / daughter of the butler pop in from just to say oh no and leave again. Too scattered to think through the rest. Um as you know good probably triumph over evil. We'll explore more in sequels".
