This is not a movie for everyone. Reading the negative reviews, I realize that modern cinema is a sign of the current state of Gen xers and instant gratification that people come to expect now. The Power of the Dog is a slow burn. As a fan of Jane Campion, I was expecting a deeply layered and storyline with character development leading to a powerful plot twist..which is exactly what we get. Going back over the story..it all makes sense..but if you are expecting a Yeehaw cowboy moment..you will be disappointed. This movie has a much deeper and wider narrative which can only be tapped with a patient and willing viewer. It was worth the wait and I will see it again to go over the details and images that I so carelessly missed the first time.

Latest RomCom on Netflix.."Love Wedding Repeat"..huge fan of these British flicks like Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually etc.. so was really looking forward to filling in the void of sheltering at a home evening with some fresh viewing, but, unfortunately, this one was such letdown. If not for the gorgeous Italian countryside w scenery and beautiful wedding visuals, I would have stopped watching midway. I Love Olivia Munn, but this role did not do her justice, though she looked stunning...Frida Pinto was fun to watch. The male lead played by Sam Claflin, looked the poor man's version of Hugh Grant..he was so much better in "Me Before You", with the brilliant Emilia Clark (from GOT), which I highly recommend. The story line was so formulaic and predictable, and dialogue very stale..the ending and plot twist did not come soon enough! Sorry to spoil this but it's still a nice visual escape to the Italian scenery. and nowadays, that may be reason enough to watch it😊
