Laal Kaptaan is action drama movie released on 18th October 2019 written and directed by Navdeep Singh and Starring Saif Ali Khan in lead role. When I saw the trailer of Lal Kaptan I was very much excited to witness Saif Ali Khan in the character of a bounty hunter and the world created by Navdeep Singh but due to some reason I couldn't make it into the theaters but when I watched it on Amazon Prime I was completely dumbstruck. Here we will discuss the movie, if you haven't watched it you can decide to watch it or not or you could revisit it with a new point of view. The film set in the era when India under British rule when the country was torn into pieces or empires and Britishers finding ways estrange among each other and in this world of chaos post the battle of Buxar.
We witness a lone wolf wolf a bounty hunter whose actions speak more than his words in quest of finding his hunt which has personal links to him, the premise and the world created perfect for a memorable cinematic experience. Let's discuss the good, we as movie lovers always want to get immersed ourselves in the world created by the creators which we rarely witness in Hindi films. We have witnessed much fictional worlds created previously which we can relate the influence of iconic Hollywood characters those who know they know🌚. Bollywood never created a fictional story or a world which explores the Indian history, culture and its diversity. Navdeep Singh has created exactly which we all are missing setting in 18th century Awadh all the scenes are shot in real locations. Which, on screen transport us to his world where we fully immerse ourselves.
It's the first time in India the character without any influence which feels like out of our land of stories. Saif Ali Khan as protagonist who has a mystery around him, sharp in mind. A Naga Sadhu wearing an East India Company uniform who posses a strength of a beast with in him only one thing in mind his hunt Saif fully immersed himself under the skin of the character. It's surprising to see Rohit from Kal ho na ho transforming into this character. He is natural in every action sequences. Deepak Dobriyal as tracker who is funny but skilled assisted by his two dogs hired to find individuals for empires. He is smart and always ahead of them who hired him. Manav Vij as Rahmat Khan the bounty hunter's target who has no quality to justify his character. The character is so ruthless and inhuman you route yourself Sadhu to cross path with him and just finish him.
Vij posses a cold but brutal energy. Zoya Hussain done a commendable job there is always a mystery and helplessness around her character, and she maintained it perfectly. The kind of detailing done with the story and the characters which I witnessed something after Tummbad. The bad for me in this movie is its length, there are many times Sadhu and Rahmat Khan cross paths but doesn't take the plunge if it's edit was crispy it would have a great effect in its initial days also. Some unnecessary comic characters in form of Maratha warriors. Its a piece of art where you will find exceptional cinematography, storytelling and a beautiful world created. It's a thriller with a slow brun. I know the kind of audience our page have you people will definitely love this one. Few years down the line "Laal Kaptaan" is going to go down a cult classic
