Finney is spectacular. The music is lovely. This has been a favorite of mine since I first saw it circa 1975. Did not appreciate it until I was an adult and had read the original as Dickens had it published. But as with all versions of a Christmas Carol, some scenes are taken verbatim while others master the art of creating the scene visually. In Scrooge there are large swaths of word for word script and where they deviate from script to fit in the music, the director captures the moment perfectly and for the modern temperament. Beautifully done and modernized for the TV audience.
