How do you get a documentary like this - to the ones who need it most? By using some of the same techniques discussed in a negative way in the documentary. And then suffer the consequences from those who see the sameness. I read through a number of reviews here that said they felt the documentary was somewhat true - but then went on to say they doubted the veracity and intent because of the way this documentary is/was distributed. I felt some of the reviews missed a really significant message - the message is to continue exploring how social media is truly controlling your own outlook on global issues, politics, religion - many things that have no business being on social media - yet many claim it's their constitutional right. It's *that* constitutional right that really needs examining. To complain that Social Media is taking away free speech - is the equivalent of saying mask wearing requirements in a place of business is taking away your rights...yet, most people who decry the mask requirement have no problem with another business axiom - no shoes, no shirt, no service. Sure, the business CANNOT force you to wear shoes and a shirt - but they certainly have the right to refuse service. Same goes with the mask wearers and protestors of Social Media controlling our thoughts and censoring posts that are not true.
The bottom line on this documentary is this: we are most certainly a society of "sheeple" if we watch it - and then pronounce judgement without any further investigation. I most certainly did - what's interesting is that anyone who understands how completely on target this documentary is - will also find little information on the same topic on any social media. Try finding, for example, Tristam Harris, on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TicTok - you cannot! I'm sure he appreciated the irony of this documentary and how it is being shared.
How do you "wake" up users of social media?
