This book had way too much detail which makes it hard to catch on. I would not recommend this book to anyone unless they like naval books. to me, it was the most boring book I have EVER read. No offense to Stephen Coonts.

This book wasn't as good as the first book, Ashfall, but it was still entertaining. It took longer to read Ashen Winter than Ashfall but was still a good book!

This was the best book of the year in my opinion. It had blood, rape, and violence in it throught the remainder of Alex's journey to get to Warren, Illinois. This book was so amazing that I bought the next three book in the series, Ashen Winter, Sunrise and Darla's Story. AMAZING!

In my opinion, this book was a little boring. But, if you are an american history teacher, who teaches the Revolutionary War, you may find it an interesting book; since its about a slave girl who serves to a loyalist family when the Redcoats take over New York.
