I'm going to compare it to "Your Name" right off the bat because that's what you want to hear. It's not as good as "Your Name" but still an enjoyable movie. There isn't as much dramatic tension and the film winds up not having as high of highs and as low lows because of it. It is, however, a lot more polished and it's clear that Makoto Shinkai is polishing his craft more and more. Of note, his segues have become more natural and the film tugs at your emotions from one feeling to another much more masterfully than "Your Name."
It's still a very good movie and worth watching. Just temper your expectations if you're looking for the next "Your Name."
