I love this movie. I have watched it 4 times in two weeks. The music is great. I love the 80s setting and the old homes. I like the art work and I like going through the discovery of spiritual strength for the main character. She is a good actress. Her character could be seen as weak because of her illness but she is actually quite assertive in the end which is brave when one is standing up to a Sociopathic partner. There are subtleties in the characters expressions making the viewer wonder and join the experience of finding out what they mean. The husband at the beginning seems like he's just a Normal guy who strays but as his deception unravels his true character is reviled which is true of anyone who has dealt with someone who has that behavior. The marital struggles with sleeping with young children is so accurate. When she doesn't do her wifely duties and he is clearly annoyed which is accurate for the time. This is not a haunted house movie. The ghost is shown as a projection which I think is part of the projector at the beginning and end. Everything the spirit does is to protect and comfort the mother. The spirit introduces herself a little at a time which I think is because the spirit didn't want to scare her. The dream with the fetus I think symbolizes womanhood and even with how vulnerable and weak the fetus is, it's still alive which just like all the murdered women linking weaker life forces together so they can eventually overpower the evil men involved in the murders. "Because of you we found each other. Because of you we become stronger. You took our children but each time, drop by drop we become an ocean." Paraphrased from the end of the movie.
