I wanted soo badly to love this game as much as I loved the first, but that was impossible. The Last of Us Part 2 removed everything that was lovable about the first game and instead provided a storyline that made me uninspired to continue, unattached to the characters and downright cringe at times. It completely abandoned the biggest subplot of the first game and replaced it with a half-baked downward spiral for everyone involved. I didn’t want or expect a photocopy of the first game, but this effort is almost embarrassing. The reason I gave it 2 stars instead of one is because the gameplay mechanics were great with well-placed improvements that kept the spirit of the first but enhanced it to keep it fun and fresh. Too bad the plot of the game completely ruined it. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, and I personally wish that I wouldn’t have played it so that I wouldn’t have a bad taste in my mouth at the end of the first game knowing this comes after it.
