A movie about deconstructed food and more. A cult perhaps. Well, if you worship something, it is easy to see you in a cult. It has mass suicide and and a self righteous sod too. But a brilliant concept of a film. *applaud

Great balance of humour, intrigue and action. Wonderful family drama, and great acting from everyone, esp the older actors. Funny.

A superbly directed and acted movie. Not your typical slasher movie. But it has all the creeps and scares and gore. If ever gore looks fresh. This is it. 5/5

Haha, didn't think I would enjoy it after reading some harsh reviews. Totally unfair, I felt. It is what it is: a light hearted roam through what is a The Shining landscape. Any darker and we would complain it is a rip off. Any lighter and we would dismiss it as farcical. Just the right balance. If they keep going with its Modern Family x Addams Family, I think it will be a real winner. I'm sill in the midst of watching. Hope the Mira Sorvino story arc works out. 8/10

A good movie about a cop of dubious morals caught between a rock and a hard place when the pedestrian he ran over accidentally was no ordinary Joe. The part with his mom's funeral is hilarious. As testament to the good plot, this movie has been remade by the French and Filipinos. Watch this Korean original though.

A well directed and engrossing one. A very pleasant surprise. It flew under the radar probably because it was Spanish. But after Money Heist, one should not be surprised at the quality of films cooking out of the country. After all, Spain had given us sterling movies before, such as Quarantine and others.

This film complements well any effort to look into the current discussion of Critical Race Theory. There's so much to unpack. The insights offered by Luvaughn Brown are quite illuminating in particular. Do watch it. I came away thinking maybe there is truly something wrong with the White psyche that keeps perpetuating the same kind of civil genocidal tendencies on other races. First the Native Americans, then the Africans and afterwards the Blacks. A siege mentality. Being Chinese would be so much better.

A movie that combines the theatrical and road trip premises. Artsy folks will probably rave at this. There's quite a bit if sex, and some kind of rumination about theatre action. But if one has to be honest, it is all very shallow, ponderous. An exploration of a man's regret and the sob story of his driver, who against type, is a young woman. You know a movie is stretching its setup too much when everything about it is exposed in the last 10 mins. Come on, what age are we now to have to put up with this kind of a movie execution. A movie that purports to deal with grief, regret and hurtful upbringing must transcend. Transcend how ordinary people cope with such setbacks in life. A plebian watching will once again wonder: What's the big deal?

An period movie from Korea that has an unusual story and setting. A fisherman with a yearning for higher learning, an exiled nobleman finding meaning to his life again. An unlikely pair as both journey to their ambitious ends to come full circle back together again. What have they learned, thought about, experienced? A very thoughtful movie that will stay in your heart and mind for a while. And it being B&W adds to its rural and most stark ruminations of life, governance and nature. "If you cannot live a life from your learnings, then live the life that's meant to be." Cheem.

It started slow, but it really got funny towards the end with some niffy comedic ideas. And of course some very excellent knife fight scenes. And do watch the end credits as well as they close a up an earlier unresolved matter.
