Well-acted. A film noir version that emphasises the detective aspect of the character.
The hero, as Bruce Wayne, was a torn character, that was layered, and one that could be understood. As Batman, he wasn't indestructible, yet had the gritty, somewhat violent, dark side that makes you take him seriously.
The villain (name I won't say, to avoid spoliing) had a scene-stealing psychotic display (in Arkham)/that for me, was the best in the movie. He was believable, credible, and compelling to watch.
Even Gotham City played a character, and felt like a real place. It is a city that is damaged, corrupted, yet , trying to heal itself.
I wanted to shoot down this movie before I even watched it, simply because of the choice of actor for the main role, but was pleasantly, and thankfullly surprised.
A great movie experience, well worth watching.
