What started off as a fun show to watch, on the lines of a breezy romantic comedy with dollops of family drama, has now developed into something indescribably different. For instance, Gungun is supposed to be this rich spoilt brat, with a heart of gold. The makers of the show get the first point across with aplomb. What they actually tend to mess up massively is the second, -and probably the most vital- characteristic of this character. She's plain illogical and supremely ill-behaved as she literally pays no mind to the reservations people might have, their urgencies and their inconveniences. The character of Kamaleshwar Mukherjee a.k.a Potka, is yet another example of an immensely illogical and to be very honest, extremely careless character. Yes, all of our families have that one fun-loving Uncle who is a universal favourite. One who stands up for the children of the family like a sibling. But this man doesn't really confirm to that trope with all his mindlessness as he meddles into the most private matters of the newlyweds, along with the younger members of the family as he assumes the role of the mastermind. Dear Makers, all elders have a line to draw in their interactions with the next generation of the family. That's just basic respect and consideration. While the idea of dramatic/cinematic liberty is much respected and of course appreciated, this is just borderline nonsensical, particularly with reference to the times when Saujannya a.k.a Babin has literally been gaslighted and manipulated into various situations by him, and of course other members of the family, especially, the Patriarch. I could literally go on with all other points that, for us, -my mother included- miss the mark by a long shot. Riju, Rupanjan, and Mishti are almost on the same lines. While I do get the idea behind a show that has a fun loving family at its centre, poised to be the saving grace of a girl devoid of maternal affection and care, what I fail to understand is why the capable makers of this particular show are showing such illogical excesses coloured as comedy. Maybe it is just my perception.
