My husband and I enjoyed the film. I don’t understand how some can perceive the story to be racist. Clint Eastwood portrayed an older White man who lived life according to his standards not how others expected him to live life. There were some uncomfortable words used towards people of color in the film. But, I think the old man was using terms that he was accustomed too in the era he grew up in. Still, he embraced the different cultures showcased in this film. Therefore, I don’t think the film was racist. I try to remain open minded and try to understand the overall meaning of things before I make a sound judgment as to if someone or something is racist or not. I encourage more people to see The Mule. A great, realistic story.
