Look, it was 1980. Life was obviously much different. Times Square was certainly not the Hamptons appearance wise, but it held within it a hidden genre of awesome music about to be unleashed known as punk rock & new wave.
That’s what carries the film and makes the movie great, the music. The acting is subpar with Tim Curry cast as the only real known actor. The plot is just decent enough to make it believable.
The Cure, Roxy Music, Joe Jackson, The Ramones and many more musical gems make this films soundtrack a classic for its time. And that’s what makes this movie move the needle from a 2 to a 4 IMO.
