What a great movie. Two men thrive off the emotions and determination of one another as jazz music conductor & young drummer at a prestigious music school. Without giving too much away, the ending scene is a ten minute pulsating climax where both men end up learning a lot about how far each of them are willing to go to get the most out of their full potential as mentor and musician.

First of all you have to keep in mind this movie was filmed in 1988. Therefore, it’s a regular guy classic with JCVD shining as the lead character. The music is also eighties perfection and the fight scenes are epic. This competition is not for the faint of heart. In the end, everyone goes home satisfied as do we the viewers who enjoyed this film.

Great movie for basketball and comedy fans & truly stands the test of time. I was shocked to hear they just remade this movie again. Bad decision. Classic movies like this one are meant to be left as is. I’d have said the same thing if they tried to do a WMCJ sequel with Woody and Wesley again during the nineties. The movie was perfectly produced as it was in 1992 and it’s as simple as that.

Outstanding! As a teenager during the seventies who loved pinball then, and still do today, this movie was right in my wheelhouse. It really captured the spirit of pinball that only a true ‘pinhead’ can understand. Pinball is not about gambling, it’s about getting in tune with the machine and finding ways to beat it. It’s a chance to escape from the daily grind for awhile. And that’s why I own six of them today sitting in my basement from the decade of the seventies-early eighties.

Look, it was 1980. Life was obviously much different. Times Square was certainly not the Hamptons appearance wise, but it held within it a hidden genre of awesome music about to be unleashed known as punk rock & new wave. That’s what carries the film and makes the movie great, the music. The acting is subpar with Tim Curry cast as the only real known actor. The plot is just decent enough to make it believable. The Cure, Roxy Music, Joe Jackson, The Ramones and many more musical gems make this films soundtrack a classic for its time. And that’s what makes this movie move the needle from a 2 to a 4 IMO.

Horrible movie. No one could seem to decide whether or not this was supposed to be a sci-fi movie or a comedy. If you like John Cusack eighties school movies, then ‘Say Anything’ or ‘The Sure Thing’ are far better choices than this mess of a film.

Great movie, lots of intriguing mystery that continues to keep you guessing throughout the film. Even the ending seems mysterious, until you backtrack through the chain of events that led to it. Nit pick alert: Not to sound shallow, but watching a naked obese woman for a 5 minute introduction to the movie was tough to watch. And just so I don’t sound sexist, I also most definitely wouldn’t want to look at a naked 300 pound dude for 5 minutes either. I understand that the writer was going for the artistic portrait display of the plus sized woman to open the film, but it would have helped to view her wearing more clothing! Still, a great film though 👍

Great 80s high school movie. There were so many good ones during the entire decade starting with The Last American Virgin and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. This one is right up there. Patrick Dempsey and Amanda Peterson led a great cast of characters. There’s a good story line message in the movie as well about trying to fit in with kids that you might not end up really wanting to hang out with. Stay within yourself and just be happy being a good person.

Average psycho killer horror film. For about 90 percent of the film, the audience is led to believe that the guy renting them the place is the lunatic psycho stalker. Then at the end, we find out it’s someone else who has absolutely no connection to the four main characters or the guy in charge of handling the rental. I get that it’s just some random serial killer, but we get no insight at all into who this mystery man is or was. I’d never watch a sequel of this movie if they do another one for that reason.

Chilling, haunting, edgy and riveting. I can only imagine how frightening it would have been seeing it on the big screen instead of on a television in my living room. Old school horror here mixed in with new post Y2K technology at everyone’s disposal. The ending was tragic, yet sort of fitting for the plot. The biggest mystery in the end to me was why the remaining kids from the other five family murders still looked like little kids in 2012. The first family massacre happened during the sixties, which means that kid would have been around 60 years old by then. But I guess every movie has a couple of holes in it somewhere in the story. Overall, a great horror flick here if that’s what you’re seeking to view.
