Mimi Harrison

The author tries very hard to convince me of a doppelgänger relationship between these two very different California girls, but she does nothing interesting. She repeats and repeats, tries to make sly asides to the reader, and attempts to raise Babitz to a literary pedestal she doesn’t, in my opinion, deserve. In fairness I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s too Vanity Fair for my blood.
