Nice and breezy, yet very informative. It was especially interesting to read about some of the lesser known development tales of smaller countries like Israel, Oman and the Baltic nations. After reading Tim Harford's Undercover Economist which propagates free and open markers above everything else, it was refreshing to read about countries like Japan and South Korea which succeeded inspite of adopting a very different strategy in the initial stages of development. The highlight of the book is perhaps the extremely diverse choice of nations selected for the study. The choice deliberately appears to have been made so as to emphasize that there is no straightjacket formula for economic development and nations may choose diverse paths based on what suits them.
