Adam Plomske

This movie reminds me of Five Easy Pieces, a character study that is essentially plotless. The lead character has a storied past that of which the audience never fully understands. Is it a portrayal of the end of American success, as everyone is destined to work in Amazon or odd jobs? Possibly. Well acted but no resolution, difficult to sympathize without divulging more character details.

Visually stunning, I am not sure if this movie was constrained by the vague plot of the novel (which I have not read), or lacked direction. George Clooneys character is left alone on Earth as the sole survivor of an apocalypse, with motivation to communicate with the sole survivors formulated through flashbacks. Flashes of many original stories mend into this, and evidently influenced the writer. Contact with Jodie Foster. Interstellar. I really feel the story constrained the ability for Clooney to make this a meaningful movie.
