Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder is excellent book which I think should be a part of academy in high schools and colleges.Despite its fatty volume it doesn't create awe, and the quality of the book is that though it is a form of a novel but not didactic. A marvelous gift to our senses, a sea of knowledge under cover.

Good and steady reading. War cannot separate love, if genuine.

Satanic Verses, I condiderer, is the modern allegorical work, after the old English literature of Chaucer and Augustan period Alexander Pope, of Rushdie. The story through frame narratives, is exceptionally inter woven between the characters of Gibreel and Saladin. The novel is a satire against the backdrop between the tormentation of plucking up of own culture and people and embracing the new ones on a new land with different culture and people.

The Old Man and the Sea is not a mere struggle of Santiago, but a struggle for existence, man's will power win over his fate, struggle against time, on the other hand it depicts the helplessness of human being against nature. The novel is a picture of reality.
