The story line itself is based on a true story and is so incredibly dark and twisted. It made it hard to get through at times. The author stated at the beginning that he tried to keep it close to what actually happened with real quotes and sequences of events, etc, which I appreciated.
The reason for knocking off a star is the writing style itself seemed very repetitive and redundant throughout and it could be distracting.
