Shrinking tries to define a new reality for its viewers, one filled with amoral sexual behavior by everyone including the foul-mouthed daughter who treats her dad like a whipped dog. Everyone in the cast can't complete a sentence without using the F word. In fairness, some of the dialogue is snappy with sarcasm and wit. Harrison Ford is the light with his wisdom about therapist's dos and don'ts.

I kept waiting for something to happen, but nothing really does. It could have been a poignant series, certainly a story to tell but none of the characters are really developed. I kept watching because I love Laurence Fox and was hoping that each episode would gather momentum. It just doesn't. The writer didn't know how to portray the Germans in their occupation of the Channel Islands (sympathetic/cruel/inhuman). The writer kept flip-flopping on the character development. One week the Germans were scary, the next they wanted to be friends with the occupants on the island. This was a story worth telling, but this is not the one to understand the dynamics of this time period.

Some movies you ask yourself why. This was one of them.

I'm a little late to the prom on watching this movie. Saw it on Netflix last night. I like both David Spade and Adam Sandler -- at times. Since the Wedding Singer, Adam Sandler has been uncomfortable to watch. But Spade and Sandler have chemistry in the Do Over and for the most part, except for the excruciating potty and sexual humor, the plot stands on its own. Sandler is loyal to his friends and you can see that in the cast of characters in this movie. He even has his wife and son playing bit parts. In rating the film, I give it three stars for the decent plot and some very funny scenes.
