I don't know what I was expecting when I watched Pippa, but it turned out to be a gripping telling of an important part of Indian history. The shock felt when people were ruthlessly gunned down in the beginning of the movie to the story of how a boy who joins the army because it's a family expectation and his journey of becoming a responsible officer. It was also so refreshing to not have a typical love story woven into the narrative. Loved the music (AR Rahman, but of course) and a good movie makes sure all the characters are played genuinely. I was left feeling a myriad of emotions, patriotism being at the forefront.
