Today's comments are mostly incorrect about this movie. Most l have read are coming from a woke generation, or from those who feel they are oppressed. This movie was made by one of The biggest film studios at that time, and by the best director of its time, trying to tackle a huge issue in 1960 “racism”, but this is not a story of black and white, it is a story of savage brutality, by a race of people that were savages themselves, not the Hollywood indians of Dances with Wolves, which itself is very unrealistic. Please study history more carefully, than what you find in a public library. This movie pits brother against brother and the moral abandonment of ones own kind, even in the tribes of both sides. This is what was tearing our country apart in the 60’s, l give credit to Lancaster’s studio for taking on such a huge risk
