Takes the first instalment and adds to it in ways I wasn't expecting going into it. Was just expecting a vanilla, cash-grab sequel. Was left overwhelmingly surprised by the clear presence of thought and love that went into the film.
From the stunning details in the animations to the well-told story to the epic musical numbers (i.e "Show Yourself" and "Into The Unknown"), Frozen 2 is a great example of how to take a future classic like Frozen and make it 10x better.
Anyone who is second-guessing going to see it needs to really consider what they're potentially missing out on. It's a lovely mix of action and pace-taking. Nothing feels too much. It doesn't feel too action-y or too talk-y. The film knows when there needs to be a speed up of pace and then how to subtly calm it down for the plot to advance through rather witty dialogue. The writing has definitely improved this time around, and the writing in the first one was strong already.
At 21 years of age, I thought my days of being 100% gripped by a Disney animated film were long gone. I couldn't have been more wrong.
