I don’t know why Disney tried to remake 5 star classic like Mary Poppins. They had a talented cast that couldn’t realistically hope to match the original casts’ presence and talent. How do even hope to compete with a young Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke in their prime? The modern special effects could not make up for the lack of any memorable songs and bad script. Nobody will remember this movie, except as a bad one. I think everyone who ever saw the original really hoped it would be a good follow on, but they will be disappointed by a remarkably boring film that fails to match anything in the original.
