An imperative read. As a fan of dystopian fiction, this is easily one of my favourites. A few sexist sentences in the book can definitely be associated to the male authorship and to the ethos of the 20th century. But 1984 definitely stands to its reputation in the literary world.

This book is quite a page-turner. I was engrossed in it from the start right to the end. The book has fully-developed and well-written complex and dynamic characters. It beautifully intertwines individual incidents together to make up the main plot and keeps introducing one surprise after another for the reader.

Too many plot holes, too all over the place and to top it all, it employs subtle sexism -- once again the male lover and the romantic life of the woman seem to be at the heart of the movie.
