Lulu is a collaboration project that just doesn't cut it. Lou Reed and Metallica are both consistent, intelligent, and strong musicians that easily deserve the credit they receive. But this album just isn't it, It's like mixing ketchup and ice cream. Both are tasty on their own, but together make for a disgusting mess.
I gave it two stars for a couple of reasons. For one, I think that composition-wise this album is far from perfect, but to call it horrible is a bit of a stretch. I like the art, I think it's unique, and it really stands out. I also thoroughly enjoyed the song "The View", and even thought Lou's parts on this song weren't horrible.
This album is more of a disappointment than a disgrace. It's just a swing and a miss sort of thing. Metallica has done incredible collaborations before, but this one just didn't work out.
