As a kid I loved MOTU dearly. The 1987 movie had some fun moments but was evidently stuck with too small a budget to properly render Eternia and the large and elaborate character roster. As such, it was a disappointment.
I was happy to hear they were making new MOTU material. Then I found out it was being helmed by Kevin Smith, whose recent works are utter garbage.
All of that said, I watched it, and it's not an altogether bad effort. It's occasionally silly, cheesy, obvious, etc, etc. BUT - it seems like a real attempt at honouring the old stories and characters but moving the story somewhere new. If you are curious, check it out. It's decent - don't listen to the views of the (alarmingly sexist/ racist/ immature) elements of the fanbase who are having man-tantrums that it's been modernised and built around (god forbid) female main characters.
It's not the best thing I've ever seen, but will likely watch the rest of it once it gets released. Takes me back to being 7 years old.
