The contrast between morality and legality is so well handled in this beautiful movie. The directing, acting, and plot is really beautiful in a sad way. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen till the very end.
If you love good movies that pose intelligent questions about acceptance, growth, consequences, and right and wrong, all handled with beautiful cinematography, this is it!
SPOILER!
It's really interesting how the simple act of the priest banishing alcohol and gambling led to a cascade of events that destroyed the town. The gangs wouldn't have found the town if a citizen didn't leave to steal from the gang in the first place. This could partly be blamed on dwindling resources following the business ban.
An intended good by the priest to make the town better turned sour.
