The book takes us to a Panem in which the Hunger Games arent all that popular, even in the Capitol. The book doesnt "whitewash" anything as many assumed. Rather, it paints a picture of the past, showing us the story behind the story. We already know how Snow will turn out and the book tells us what led him to his villainy. The buildup is worth it and after the initial chapters, the book is gripping till the very end. Watch out for subtle references and Easter Eggs to the Trilogy. Suzanne Collins also takes a dig at the present state of affairs and society so look out for those as well. Overall, its a great read and was much better than I originally thought it would be. Definitely a must-read for Hunger Games fans!
