Clearly Marvel is trying to move on from the expensive stars that got them to the top of the mountain, and in this case they did it classy. Great show (not perfect) fun mostly family friendly and, unlike Falcon and Winter Soldier, not preachy with heavy handed leftist tropes. It’s Disney so they still lurk in the back ground a bit, but it’s not gag inducing or over the top. Renner is terrific. His dead pan humor and relatable nature makes the character feel real. Tons of fun, a worthy addition to MCU that feels like it belongs in phase 1, when Marvel was at its best.

What’s funny about this show is that it fails to recognize 1 thing: Black Americans don’t need to replace existing characters, they want their own. The Falcon is effectively killed, and replaced by a Captain America. Falcon was, all by himself, a perfectly fine superhero that was his own thing. Much like Black Panther. A strong character in his own right. Captain America is Steve Rogers. Steve Rogers is white, and that’s ok. The Falcon is black, that’s ok too. These are cool characters who do good things because they’re good. This show in the most heavy handed way possible, makes The Falcon and Captain America irrelevant, and only sees the color of the skin of the actors portraying them. It’s sad really.

Super cool concept and some very interesting and innovative heist ideas. The Professor has some similarities to Walter White and Gus Fring from Breaking Bad. It’s a European show so there are some cultural things to get past, and the fact that it’s a foreign language show dubbed in English makes it difficult to really gauge the acting. Overall it’s intriguing and you’ll likely find yourself questioning what the heck these guys are thinking. Definitely worth watching.

Calling this show a “spin-off” doesn’t do it justice. While the characters from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul share the same universe, and there are tons of great Easter eggs and call backs, this show stands on its on two feet perfectly. It is a much different show, more of a “slow burn” than Breaking Bad, but equal in its cinematic quality and unparalleled performances by the cast. Calling it “better” or “worse” than Breaking Bad is inaccurate at best. This show is different. It’s also incredibly well made. I would recommend this show as a binge on Netflix vs. a week by week endeavor as the pacing could be a turn off for some, especially in the early going. Bottom line, it is a must watch for any lover of dramatic television and film.
