I'm not much of a reader but my daughter wanted to get a clear opinion of motherhood. I was not really sure what to say but after reading this book it made me, start a discussion of gender roles and mainly my intriguing concern for Blyth's silence for ever so long as she did. I was very much sadden when she missed many good opportunities to get the support and most important professional help for her daughter and break the generation of self acceptance and errors life had from her grandmother to her mother and now her herself was passing on to her daughter. One can say as a parent among many negative sign it is best to live in denial then accept truth and reality even of a gut feeling eating you to seek answers help and confront that you your child your family are not ok. Not sure if this book will gain more interest to see how Violet continues as she will soon be of age to becoming a woman and potentially a mother one day. or may she become a bigger evil monster and just end up lost in this world that has many needing mental health intervention to surpass unforeseen generational passing's.
In closing my favorite part is Blyth's new self
"I am capable of moving beyond my mistakes"
"I am capable to heal from the hurt and pain I have caused"
this is positive for every single woman struggling not only in motherhood but overall life circumstance!!!!!!!
