Mesmerising film! The fighting at the Somme was horrific and graphic but demonstrated clearly the inspiration for Tolkienโs horrible creatures and descriptions in his battle scenes. He was a sensitive child and his writing and drawing was an escape from a troubled reality. He had a very happy time at school and university where he enjoyed the โfellowshipโ of his friends.
