NOW THIS IS A ONE OF A KIND HORROR SPECTACLE THAT'S MULTI-GEN-FRIENDLY!! 🕹🎮🍿
Blumhouse Productions never fails to impress! Imagine being tasked with directing and adapting this dark kidcore-themed, highly popular video game to the silver screens to be under R-18. Wow!! An admirable challenge -conquered IMO .
Truly, this is one thrilling, jumpscare experience... as with playing the game. Kudos to director Emma Tammi and cast and crew for successfully and effectively bringing this point-and-click survival horror by Scott Cawthon to life!!
One may have some doubts at first, if it would be safe to watch along with kids since we do know that Blumhouse titles are often associated with 98.5% adult themes. But this, surpasses expectations! As to both scary and somewhat wholesome at the same time...Just a bit of a warning, maybe there are still some scenes and language in here that are a bit inappropriate for kids to see or hear-just minor only though. Always best to be prepped to cover them ears and eyes at the right time.
The story revolves around Mike Schmidt(Josh Hutcherson-Zathura, The Hunger Games) and his little sister Abby(Elizabeth in the game), their unfortunate little brother Garrett(Lucas Grant) and the haunted struggles they underwent and took place -most especially when Mike started his night shift at the pizza joint. Also, Elizabeth Lail(Dead of Summer, One Upon a Time) as Vanessa Shelly did a fantastic job with her portrayal- a tritagonist not to be missed. And of course, an added bonus - "Scream" legend Mathew Lillard, in a performance that he does best, a blindsiding awesome one to note, in the hall of surprise thrills.
I don't want to spoil it much further for you dear reader/movie fanatic, but this, definitely is an entertaining watch from start to finish--popcorn-worthy, guaranteed! Either you've played the videogame or not. Made me crave for gothic-themed strawberry chocolate cupcakes afterwards. <-; !!
