This was a really complex and powerful movie. The two (technically three) protagonists are very likeable and feel well grounded in the narrative. The plot is somewhat confusing to follow and leaves some room for interpretation but offers plausible explanations too. This movie probably had the most heartstrings moments of any movie I've seen recently, almost to its detriment, but they'll definitely stay with me for some time. Overall, I highly recommend this top notch high fantasy romance, and I enjoyed it as much as the masterpiece Koe no Karachi, albeit for somewhat different reasons.

This was easily among the most poignant and emotional movies I've seen. Goes toe to toe with the likes of A Silent Voice, Your Name, When Marnie Was There, Hello World, etc. Supremely animated, exquisitely written and presenting relatable topics of mortality and motherhood, I found this to be one of the best movies I've ever seen

A masterpiece of a movie. A little confusing at times, but definitely up there with the classics like A Silent Voice! A hearty conclusion to the arc.

This was a stunning continuation of the MiA series. I think generally, the plot is a bit heavier here, and the material a little more gruesome and depressing, but it makes for an even better movie I think, and leaves you with things to ponder until the franchise moves further.

This movie is soft, yet raw. Happy, yet sad. Beautiful, yet incredibly unfair. It conveys what it's trying to say in grounded reality unlike any movie I've watched before. It makes you think about life and feel how fragile, yet beautiful it is. This might very well be the best movie I've seen. It is sorrowful, emotional and heart-wrenching, yet it is an incredible masterpiece, and a member of the exclusive club of movies that only come around every so often. Spring trees and sakuras, blooming together as one. Thank you for an experience unlike any other.

This was probably the most poignant movie I've ever seen. Emotionally grippy, with a very powerful story, beautiful visuals and meaningful character development, it is incredibly easy to recommend. An experience like no other!

I really loved this movie. As mentioned in other reviews, the story is fairly easy to follow but still interesting, aided by great character development and beautiful art design and animation. There were some pretty emotional moments, some deeper, more nuanced, and there were a lot of interesting side characters. As a movie, I think it sits square in the middle between Miyazaki, with strong female leads, and Shinkai, with an emotional, well constructed story. The ending left me feeling satisfied, and there were a couple neat, little twists as the plot unfolded. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, giving it full satisfaction scores :) As an aside, I am not a cat person, but I think the movie did justice to our feline friends, both in terms of visuals and story relevance.
