I actually want to give this film 3-1/2 stars. This is not your typical horror film that most Americans expect, and the trailer did not do this well crafted movie justice. This is not straight forward horror but more like a European art house film with heavy disturbing themes. It explores the devastating effects childhood trauma, grief, and religious paranoia. It is more disturbing because of its absence of the supernatural. With bleak cinematography adding to the somber tone, the slow deliberate pacing feels like you are also in the lodge slowly being buried under the weight of snow. Not for the faint of heart or those that want their personal haunts put to rest.
