Its just hyped in India because of its touching controversial topics and a little bit of social commentary, its dramatic but underneath all the guise is just a series of events that lead to a cliche, Bollywood-esque ending. Ultimately the whole chase in the second season doesnt lead to anything substantial. The first season is better but without a proper plan it doesnt matter.
Seems like a story written on drugs, which isnt uncommon nowadays. Its full of plot-holes, events where the character motivation is unclear and border-line random and has weird pacing. Some good aspects like the production and sincere acting prevent me from giving it one star. Even then, the biggest problem in the casting is that despite his best effort, the main lead Nawazuddin is non-Marathi and didn't do a good enough job of convincing us he is a Marathi speaking person, as he spoke way too much Hindi and the accent was clearly just an effort at mimicry, half the time reverting back to North Indian, and did not sound Mumbai-esque, even the slang was not perfectly captured although it was passable.
